Alana's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 06, 2023

Hello, my name is Alana Garica Ako and I am a seinor at Moe and Gene Johnson High School Located in Buda, TX.I am also a 2023 student visionary candidate for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, LLS's main goal is to cure and improve the quality of treatment and life for cancer patients, survivors, and families. Fighting blood cancer that includes Leukemia, Hodgkin's disease, melanoma, and lymphoma. Unfortunately, we all have different ways that cancer affected us whether it was our families or a close friend, but I am a survivor of stage 2 Hodgkins lymphoma at the time I was only 16 and I just got out of my sophomore year of high school, being put in a situation that you never thought that you would be in is heartbreaking and I believe that absolutely nobody deserves to go through what cancer patients and survivors go through. Thats why I put together a dedicated team that belive the same thing and they heard my story loud and clear, and some of my team memebers have first hand seen how it effects the human body and how much it can take out of someone. As a team we are looking to fundraise money to support financallal and spread awareness so we can continue to give patients the support and the outreach that they need, But we can't do it alone help team Alana reach their goal of $60,000, it is a big reach but if anything I learned from fighting my toughest battle is that absolutly anything is possible as long as you put your mind to it and you don't give up.

Alana's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser

Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.

I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.

This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

  • Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
  • Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
  • Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!
